Organic Tinting

CEN (European Committee for Standardization) Rules

According to CEN Rules, when the colors in Category 4 are given, the user must be warned that they cannot use these lenses while driving

When some colors in category 3 are used, the colors of traffic lights are not easily recognized. Therefore, although they are not too dark, these colors should not be used while driving.

CONDITIONS THAT NEED TO BE COMPLIED WITH
AT AN ORDER FOR TINTING and MIRROR COATING

  • It may not be possible to attain the intended result by 100% for organic lens colorization outside the indexes of 1.50 and 1.56 (for the lenses 1.53 Trivex, 1.60, 1.67 and 1.74). The user must be informed of this condition in advance.

  • It is much harder to get the desired color for the lenses with the indexes of 1.67 and 1.74. (It becomes harder to tint a lens as the power increases. Please consult before placing an order.)

  • It is not possible to apply tinting on the raw material of 1.59 polycarbonate.

  • No tinting is applied for mineral lenses.

  • In case of an order without a real sample, the colors and color tones may not satisfy the expectations. In addition, the look of degraded lenses applied to frame may vary depending on the size of the frames and the height of the assembly. It will be assumed that the customers placing an order have known these conditions.

  • For the gradient tinted lens request, cylindrical value and axle value should also be given.

  • Colors of the tinted lenses may change and fade away in time due to the effects of UV lights.

  • AR coated or mirror coated lenses cannot be tinted.

  • It is possible to have color changes on a lens without AR coating. There is always a risk of discoloration.  In such case, the responsibility rests upon the customer placing the order.

  • Risk of discoloration of the lenses is the responsibility of the customer in case of the removal of an AR or mirror coating .

  • Tinted lenses need to be ordered as pair.

  • Since it is not possible to know about the height of the optical centers, the form and size of the lenses during the assembly, the consistence of the colored lenses may vary from the sample.

  • In case of tinting the different indexes on the right and left lenses, the colors may not be the exactly the same.

  • Mirror coating may be applied on polarized lenses.

  • Polarized lenses may only have the colors smoke-brown-green. There may be no other colors since tinting may not be applied afterwards.

  • In case of an antireflective coating on a tinted lens, the color may slightly fade away due to the decrease in the reflection and the correspondingly absorption.

  • There may be no mirror coating on the lenses of 1.59 polycarbonate and the indexes of 1.67 and 1.74.

  • During the order for mirror coated lenses, not only the mirror color but also the inner color of the lens should be indicated.

  • Only the colors indicated in the catalogue may be applied on a mirror coated lens. Other than these colors, it is not possible to apply a mirror coating according to a sample color (e.g. color of the mirror coating on a pair of sunglasses). In case of such a request, a color on the catalogue that is closest to the requested color may be chosen.

  • Tinting of mirror coated lenses may be applied on the certain days of the week. Delivery may take up to 7-8 days depending on the day the order is placed.

  • During an order for tinting and mirror coated lenses, the color of the lenses must be clearly indicated. The color code or the mirror coating code must be stated when the order is placed.

  • Production of a tinted lens may take about 2-3 days in case there is no antireflective coating and, 3-4 days in case of an antireflective coating.
