Agains The Harmful Effect of Blue Light

BLUE LIGHT TECHNOLOGY
Definition of Blue Light?
High frequency light that is at the purple/blue band of between 400-120nm in a visible spectrum is called High-Energy Visible (HEV) Light.
High-Energy Visible (HEV) Light is also known as “blue light”, and it locates within the white light emitted from the sun, lighting systems and all digital devices with an LCD screen. White light is the light formed by uniting of all colors (all the wavelengths within the visible light area).
Possible Effects of Blue Light
Recent research shows that prevention of UV and HEV light is critically important to protect eyes from cataract and age-related macular degeneration (AMD). AMD is a medical situation where there is age-related macular degeneration in retina.

Harmful Effects
Deep penetration of blue light to eyes may cause the following consequences.
-
Circadian Rhythm Disorder.
-
Digital Eye Strain Syndrome characterized with blurred vision, difficulty in focusing, dry and troubled eyes, headache, neck and back pain.
-
Increase in the risk of certain types of cancer.
-
Increase in the risk of diabetes, obesity and cardiac diseases.
-
Higher risk of depression.
-
May cause permanent eye damage, contribute to Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) that may result in vision loss.

Ophthalmic Lenses with Blue Light Technology
Ophthalmic lenses with BlueCut technology block high-energy visible (HEV) light with a wavelength of 400-420 nm in addition to UV-A and UV-B.
Ophthalmic lenses with BlueCut technology filter high-energy blue light of up to 420 nm wavelength within the visible light spectrum. Thus, they reduce the negative effects on those who frequently use digital devices such as computers, televisions, tablets, phones etc. or who are present in environments with intensive light during a day such as pain in eyes and eye sockets, red eyes, watering of eyes, headache, blurred vision, luminous sensitivity and dry eyes.

-
Help regulate the circadian rhythm also known as the biological clock.
-
Many researches show that it contributes to the prevention of the formation of Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD).
